What to Expect
In this course, split across 3 evenings on ZOOM, you will learn the principles that underpin image editing. Whilst there will be some examples to demonstrate practical application of these concepts, the course is designed to be largely independent of the software and tools that you use. Each of the 3 sessions will last 90 minutes with a teaching portion and a recap/feedback/demonstration portion and you will be fee to ask questions throughout. By the end of the course you should have a fairly intuitive understanding of luminosity, contrast and colour, as well as what you are trying to achieve when editing and the problems you might come across. The course will probably recap some things you already know, but tie them together in a way that makes much more sense!
Luminosity and Contrast - 30th December 7pm
In the first session we will discuss all things related to luminosity and contrast. I will be covering a whole range of subjects with a particular focus on dynamic range, why it creates so many problems, and what we can do about it. In essence: how do we translate the real world into a realistic digital image.
Colour - 6th January 7pm
In the second session we will cover digital colour, how digital colour is recorded and all the problems with representing that colour. We’ll go into colorspaces/gamuts, colour channels, clipping, hue shifts, workout accuracy and much more.
Recap session - 13th January 7pm
Since this will be my first time running the course the final session will recap everything we did in the previous two sessions. I might also end up covering a few new aspects that I missed! There will also be the chance for a group discussion/clarification to make sure no one goes away feeling confused.

The course is priced at £120 which includes all 3 sessions and recordings of the sessions should you be unable to attend one or two.
