West from A' Mhaighdean

The Great Wilderness, Scotland

In the course of photographing The Great Wilderness I placed a particular focus on A' Mhaighdean and summitted 8 times, with 6 summit camps. This was one of the most sublime moments I have ever witnessed in the Scottish Highlands. As the sun came down, the temperature dropped below the dewpoint, and a sea of clouds formed around the mountains. This particular frame was one of many that I captured, but it was the standout thanks to the wave of cloud to the bottom left that elevates this extraordinary scene even further. This image is from my book "The Great Wilderness" and can be found on page 1
