green ferns burst out of the banks fo the colly brook in Devon

Obscene Green

Colly Brook, Dartmoor

Early June sees the Colly Brook at its best. I was searching for a location from where I could make the most of the vivid ferns whilst showing them in next to the brook to give a sense of place. I had to repeatedly return to this location in order to get conditions when the ferns were still, since even the slightest breeze would have spoilt the image. Fortunately, this spot is only 15 minutes walk from home!

Since taking the image I have been back along the river many times, I have yet to find such a perfect display of green ferns.
