Impassable Divide
Highlands of Iceland
We camped beside this raging torrent for one night. One of the fascinating aspects of this location was the contrast between one side of the river and the other. Whilst we camped on a barren plain of volcanic desert, immediately to the other side of the river was a massive bed of moss. It was apparent that the sandstorms that had bothered us on the previous afternoon didn't make it across the river, hence the difference. One thing that was totally out of the question was crossing the river, it really was ferocious.
