Thunder storms are a common occurance in the Drakensberg in the summer. Whilst most mornings begin clear there is a certain inevitability when the clouds first begin to bubble up. Some time between after midday the first rumble is heard. This is a warning to complete your hike and get the tent up! The changeable weather mades for wonderful, variable lighting, but sometimes you have to be quick!
