Forest for the Trees
from Leather Tor, Dartmoor
These pine trees in a small forest plantation near Burrator nearly always look as unspectacular as any other pine trees but like most landscapes, with the right conditions a magincal scene will materialise. This was taken after a night spent camping above Burrator with a shot planned for sunrise. Of course the photo I had in mind had nothing to do with these pine trees but it occasionally happens that by being 'out there' regularly then occasionally your get an unexpected opportunity for a photo. This image is one of my favourites and it also received a Highly Commended in the prestigious Landscape Photographer of the Year 2009 competition.
