sunset through a Dartmoor Hawthorn Tree

Broken not Beaten

nr Combe Tor, Dartmoor

One of my very favourite shots. This is probably the best example I have of a retake improving on the original shot which I had taken a year before when I was a relative beginner in photography. The sunstar here is caused by shooting at a very small lens aperture. Although it looks quite calm and peaceful the reality was very different. It was close to freezing and there was a biting wind as I took this shot, I left my hat at home and was suffering with a serious dose of brain freeze!
