Hawthorn tree at sunrise with light hitting the peaks of tors

Dartmoor Vista

West Dartmoor

I scouted out this spot a few days before on a rather grey day and knew that there was a good shot to be had. To my eyes this is classic Dartmoor, golden grasses on granite strewn hillsides with tors above and the occasional isolated hawthorn tree. I hope that real Dartmoor lovers will really enjoy this image. This is one of my favoutie compositions of Dartmoor that I have found to date, not least because it has 9 tors, all of which I have visited and photographed, in the full resolution image. This was taken after one of the -10 nights we had in January 2009. I spent an hour getting to location (running) for sunrise, by which time my water bottle had frozen!
