I won't be providing a specific itinerary for this trip because I will adapt the plan to suit the weather and the progress of the group. There are a number of potential starting and finishing locations but the goal will be to camp out for 4 consecutive nights (5 full days) and incorporate a summit camp on A'Mhaighdean and others in the area. The photos you see are all highly representative of what we will be shooting, but with the exception of A'Mhaighdean, the summits we choose may be different!
We will meet on the Monday at Poolewe at 11am though we may not actually start the trip here. It may be necessary to make your own arrangements to get to Poolewe depending on the coronavirus rules at the time.
The trip will conclude back at the cars by 5pm on Friday, I will then be driving down to Edinburgh to attend a wedding.
I will be on hand at all times to help you with your images should you wish. Usually I find a mix of abilities on my trips which works very well with advanced photographers able to shoot with total freedom and beginners getting the help they require.
Fitness And Experience
You do not need prior mountain experience for this trip however you must be mountain fit! You will need to be able to carry a 20kg backpack up a 1000m mountain and then repeat it. We will be taking our time and your ability to complete the hike is really about having decent baseline fitness and the right attitude. My Youtube videos from summer 2020 show a group from mid 40s to mid 60s.
A complete PDF kitlist is provided upon booking so you can be confident you have everything you need. I can provide high-end lightweight camping equipment perfectly suited for the trip. This includes Terra Nova Quasar tents, Rab Neutrino 400 sleeping bags and NeoAir Xtherm sleeping mats. If however you would prefer to use your own sleeping kit, or bring your own tent then you are welcome to. Aside from camping equipment which is provided, you will need suitable outdoor clothing, walking boots a rucksack and a number of other items.
Obviously tents will be single occupancy due to coronavirus restrictions. I have one lightweight 1-man tent to lend out otherwise you will either have to carry one of my two man mountain tents (3.5kg) or provide your own lightweight tent.
The trip does not include transport (unless the rules change in which case I can provide transport from Inverness), food or insurance.
Cancellations due to Coronavirus
This trip has been planned within the anticipated restrictions post October 19th 2020. Obviously there are many ways in which the restrictions could change (although hopefully by May they will have changed for the better!). In the event that the workshop cannot take place you will be refunded in full.
Price And Booking
This workshop is priced at £800 with a £300 deposit required to book your place. The remaining £500 is due 1 month before the workshop starts.
