This workshop is fully booked.

Saturday - meet at 2pm at the Tafarn-y-Garreg pub. We'll have a quick drink and say hello, explain the plan and then head out. We'll hike up to Fan Foel to camp (6km, 600m ascent, 2 1/2 hours) stopping in between to cover a variety of topics. Dinner and evening session, sunset.

Sunday - Sunrise from the top. Morning session. Hike back for a 12 noon finish.

Fitness and Experience

No mountain experience is necessary. If you are walking fit and healthy you should be able to complete this hike. The routes we are taking are entirely non-technical but there is some steep ground. You will need to carry an 18kg rucksack including your camera kit, food, and the camping gear you will be using.

Some of you may already have all the kit you need. If you would like to rent a tent (shared), sleeping matt, sleeping bag, pillow and stove then you can do so for £20. The equipment I can provide is the very best available - you'll be using nearly £1000 worth of equipment! I have 2 backpacks I can loan for people who have next to no kit!

There will be no photographic tuition provided. The focus is entirely on outdoorsmanship appropriate to photographers.

Not provided - please find your own way to the Tafarn-y-Garreg pub.

If the weather is totally unsuitable for camping (windy or very wet) we will cancel with full refunds. If there is a bit of wind and rain we will go for it anyway (you'll learn more!) and deliver the teaching parts of the course in the pub.

This workshop is priced at £60 with an additional £20 if you wish to borrow my equipment (see above), I will send requests for this additional fee once the booking is made. Please note that payment confirms your place and payments are not refundable (though you may find a replacement).
