Strike

Drakensberg, South Africa

To be honest there is nothing in the Drakensberg that gives me quite as much concern as lightning storms. I've had a dozen storms pass overhead in my 20 or so weeks in the Drakensberg and its not something I look forward to. Fortunately, most storms pass in the distance, either in Lesotho or over the distant plains of Kwa-Zulu Natal. This strike, although not the most spectacular of the evening, appeared in the ideal position and was perfectly timed with the fading twilight.
