Interlocking

Fur Tor, Dartmoor

The river Tavy winds towards Tavy Cleave with Hare Tor above. This stunning sweeping view was what greeted me when I got out of my tent on this cold winter morning on Fur Tor. I'm sure geography teachers would love to show this example of v-shaped valleys and interlocking spurs! Dartmoors rivers rise and fall very quickly as I discovered on this particular trip. Getting to my location was tricky. The river was swollen and hard to cross. Walking back just 10 hours later was considerably easier, the water had fallen by a good 6 inches overnight.
