Watern Tor has one of the most strinking silhouettes of all Dartmoor's Tors. The layered granite weathered by time has given Watern Tor a unique profile unmatched on Dartmoor. Before sunrise the cirrus in the sky became richly colourful, starting as a deep red and working up to a feirce orange. This view from 'behind' Watern Tor is one of the best known and photographed and the Tor has indeed been shot by many. However due to its remoteness its not an easy tor to get to for sunrise and so from my point of view this was the perfect time to go! My tent was set up about 50m from this point.
